Mathieu Jones Wood Caddy
Mathieu Jones (Mat) is a wood turner and carver whose practice bridges traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design. Working with green wood salvaged from London street trees, he gives a second life to timber that would otherwise be discarded, transforming it into finely turned tea caddies and wagatabon‑inspired trays. His pieces are finished with traditional urushi lacquering techniques, layering depth, durability and quiet luminosity onto the living character of the wood. Each work carries both the immediacy of the tree and the refinement of handwork, inviting a dialogue between material, maker and time.
Material: London Green Wood, Urushi Lacquer
Technique: Hand-carved
