“Huangzhong”
Yunnan Old Tree Yellow Tea
“Huang”, the yellow, is a category now nearly forgotten by the world.
“Zhong”, the rhythm and recurrence, reflects Tang Wang’s practice of harvesting and crafting this tea regularly every year.
In ancient Chinese music, Huangzhong was the first tone among the twelve standard pitches that worked as the reference note from which all others were derived. As Tang Wang explains, “Huangzhong, the standard of sound. Huangzhong, the standard of flavour.” Having made tea for over a decade, and Huangzhong for more than six years, this creation represents his most distinctive and personal work, a tea that defines his craftsmanship and taste.
