By following the concept of reviving the use of ancient forms, Liuxian reinterprets the traditional incense burner as a functional piece of teaware. The rustic texture created through wood firing softens the ceremonial solemnity of the vessel while retaining the composure and balance of its ancient form. This design transforms a traditional object from one of display to one of daily use, merging the form of antiquity with the functionality of contemporary teaware.
Material: Hainan Coastal Yellow Clay, containing natural sand
Technique: Wheel-thrown; with the Spout, Handle, Feet, and Surface Textures shaped by hand-built
Firing: Casuarina wood-fired, kiln sealed at the end for a strong reduction atmosphere
