Kunlun Snow Chrysanthemum Yunnan Old Tree Puer

£85.00

唐望雪片:崑崙雪菊與古樹普洱

In 2012, Tang Wang travelled to the Western Regions of China. There, he saw how the Uyghur people used the local snow chrysanthemum to cook with their fermented tea. He was inspired by this ancient tradition to make a blend of his own, and, after twelve years of attempts, finally realised his ambition.

Starting with his own ancient tree Pu'er, carefully aged for three years, Tang Wang sets the stage with a sweet, mellow woodiness. Then, the snow chrysanthemum, foraged at an altitude of 3,000 meters, is gently dried in the shade to preserve the active substances. Precisely proportioned and steamed to prevent high temperature from causing the aroma to dissipate, the two are blended and pressed.

When we first tested this tea, we immediately fell in love. Using ancient tree Pu'er and Kunlun snow chrysanthemum, Tang Wang has created a golden blend of hot and cold, and we couldn't resist buying up the whole batch. We are honoured to promote the fruits of his perseverance and research.

What is so special about this tea? The first thing that shocks you, is the vibrant colour: a golden red, bursting with life. Then, the fragrance reaches you, the full spectrum of high and bright pine needles, to sweet honey, to mellow woods.

From there, you are taken on a journey through each infusion. Like a conversation with a close friend, where neither of you ever run out of things to say, every infusion is a new topic. Don't worry about when or if it will end, just enjoy the moment, if you want to keep listening, it will have more to say.

*This tea comes in a 200g pressed brick as pictured
