Description: Dahongpao, also known as Big Red Robe, is a highly esteemed Wuyi rock tea from the Wuyi Mountains in Fujian Province, China. Known for its unique mineral and woody aroma, Dahongpao offers a rich and mellow flavor with a striking rock charm (Yan Yun). The tea leaves are tightly curled, appearing greenish-brown, and produce a bright orange liquor when brewed.

  • Ingredients: Leaves from Dahongpao tea plants in the Wuyi Mountains

  • Process: Withering, rolling, partial oxidation, roasting

  • Appearance: Tightly curled, greenish-brown leaves

  • Liquor Color: Bright orange

  • Flavor: Rich, mellow, and complex with mineral, woody notes, and a sweet aftertaste

Brewing Instructions:

  1. Equipment: Use a Yixing clay teapot or a porcelain gaiwan.

  2. Tea Quantity: Use 5-7 grams of tea leaves.

  3. Water Temperature: Heat water to 90°C - 95°C (194°F - 203°F).

  4. First Infusion: Rinse the leaves quickly, then steep for 10-20 seconds.

  5. Subsequent Infusions: Increase the steeping time by 10-20 seconds for each subsequent infusion.

  6. Enjoy: Serve the tea in small tasting cups, savoring the evolving flavors with each infusion. Dahongpao can be steeped multiple times, maintaining its flavor through several brews.
