Lidong marks the beginning of winter in the traditional Chinese calendar. It is a time when nature turns inward, conserving energy at the root — and so too do we, seeking quietude and warmth within.
On this seasonal threshold, we invite you to step away from the rush of daily life and enter the tranquil space of Yushu Tea Gallery for "Lidong Yaji" — a winter gathering woven together by four threads: Guqin, tea, culinary art, and lacquerware.
In the tradition of Chinese literati, art was never separate from life, but a form of daily self-cultivation. Through scholarly gatherings in gardens and mountain retreats, poets and artists lifted life into art — playing the Guqin, sipping tea, and sharing inspiration. Today, we carry this spirit into a quiet corner of London.
Here, Guqin and tea share a quiet resonance — both ask for a listening heart, and together they shape the atmosphere of the evening. Our tea desserts are inspired by the wisdom of the season, made with seasonal ingredients and delicately infused with tea. Holding it all together is the lacquerware — vessels that not only carry tea and food, but also connect the senses. Made of the same material as the body of the Guqin, they weave sound, taste, and touch into a seamless whole.
On this early winter night, as notes of the Guqin float in the air, as tea warms the heart, as seasonal flavours unfold on the palate, and lacquer rests gently in the hand — here, the deepest essence of life gathers, lingers, and echoes within the space of this gathering.
We look forward to sharing this quiet beauty with you
